Project summary:
Lack of social activities, insufficient physical activity and poor nutrition can cause many health problems in children such as obesity, high blood pressure, and loneliness leading to social isolation. An additional challenge for adolescents presents the lack of tourism offer in the rural parts of the cross-border region. In this regard, young adolescents have been recognized as the target group of this project, together with their parents and the entire local community. Raising awareness and knowledge of children in early adolescence about physical education and healthy eating through educational seminars will be one of the main goals of the Project. These seminars will be created through joint cooperative activities and synergistic expertise of research Project participants from both neighbouring countries. The gained awareness and knowledge about physical education and healthy nutrition will be utilized in organizing the children’s POPEYE fair as a new tourism event which will contribute to educational tourism offer in the rural part of the CB region. The establishment of the POPEYE fair as a novel tourism destination can serve as a model with a multiplier effect for children’s educational tourism, while the educational program of physical education and healthy eating can be implemented into the school curriculum in a whole Europe. The Project is designed to make children’s inclusion in social life more comfortable and provide the possibility for peers from the neighbouring countries to make friendships thus laying the foundations for future cross-border cooperation. It is also created to ensure the involvement of vulnerable groups with consideration of environmental protection.
